911 Pentagon Memorial to Ground Zero Pray For Peace Walk Status 9/9/2011

Walked over 240 miles - Arrived at Yankee Stadium Tuesday, 9/6, in the soaking rain - Went to Yankee game Wednesday, 9/10.- Walking to Citi Field. Mets invited me to the game and to be on the field before the game on Sat. (1:05pm - Cubs vs Mets) - Will walk from Citi Field to Ground Zero on Sun., 9/11.

It would be terrific if you join me for the Mets game. Emails me at ajfortejr@hotmail.com and I’ll contact the Mets to see if we all can get on the field before the game.

God grant us peace.

Al Forte, 68, father of 3, grandfather of 5 and US Army Veteran has walked over 220 miles from the 911 Pentagon Memorial in Washington DC to Yankee Stadium and over the RFK (Triboro) Bridge. The walk will end at Ground Zero in New York City on September 11th. The purpose of the walk is to spread the message of Praying-For-Peace

This is Al’s 3rd Pray-For-Peace Walk.

  • In 2008 Al walked from Yankee Stadium in New York City to Chicago, that covered about 1,000 miles and took 79 days. The walk went to Ground Zero and Shanksville, PA  (where Flight 93 crashed) along the way.
  • In 2010 Al walked from the Old North Church in Boston to Ground Zero. Both the Boston Red Sox and NY Yankees invited Al to be on their fields during batting practice before their games.

This current  Washington Walk started on August 8th at the 911 Pentagon Memorial and has gone 220+ miles and is currently on the Queens of the RFK Bridge. The walk will resume on September 10th and will go to Citi Field (NY Mets) and finish at Ground Zero on September 11th, the 10th anniversary on the 911 crashes.

The Mets have invited Al to a game and to be on the field during batting practice.

The 2011 Walk has gone to the 911 Pentagon Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, Vietnam War Memorials, Korean War Memorial, World War II Memorial, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, a Baltimore Orioles game, Wilmington (DE), a Phillies game, the Liberty Bell, and the Garden of Reflection (Bucks County 911 Memorial).

Chaplain Major Zan Sellers gave Al a tour of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The Phillies invited Al to a game and on the field during batting practice.
