Washington, DC to New York City Pray-For-Peace Walk
Pentagon 9/11 Memorial to Ground Zero -- Arriving at Ground Zero on Sept. 11th
Washington,
DC, August 6, 2011—We can make a difference. Help spread the message of Praying-For-Peace by joining
us along the way.
Picture a world at peace. How
would that look to you and what would that mean for our children and grandchildren? Peace in ourselves... Peace in our families
and neighborhoods... Peace in our towns and cities... Peace in our country... Peace across our world.
We cannot change the past, but we can change the future.
My name is Al Forte, 68, father of 3 and grandfather of 5, and I’m doing the above Pray-For-Peace
Walk. The only purpose for the walk is to spread the message of Praying-For-Peace.
The Washington to NYC Pray-For-Peace Walk will start on August 8th at
the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial and go to the Washington, DC war memorials (The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, World War II, Korean
War and Vietnam War Memorials). Walter Reed Army Medical Center will be visited on August 9th.
The Walk will proceed to Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia, Trenton, and go to Midtown NYC,
Yankee Stadium, Citi Field (Mets) and end at Ground Zero on Sept. 11th. Major League Baseball games
will be attended along the way (Orioles - 8/12, Phillies - 8/24, Yankees - 9/7 and Mets - 9/10).
This is my 3rd Pray-For-Peace Walk. Previous Pray-for Peace Walks were:
- 2008 New York City to Chicago - 950 miles / 79 days - visiting Ground Zero and Shanksville, PA where Flight 93 crashed
on 9/11/01. Went to MLB games along the way.
- 2010 Boston to NYC - 250 miles / 30 days, visiting Ground
Zero. The Boston Red Sox and NY Yankees both invited me to be on their fields for batting practice before their games.
